Academic Programmes » Master of Arts (M.A) in Theology and Mission

The Master of Arts in Theology and Mission seeks to give expression to our sense of 'kairos' in African Christianity as outlined below:

  • A one-year modular programme providing a basic introduction to the range of theological disciplines for graduates from other fields of study, who desire theological training to equip them for Christian ministry
  • Focusing on the forms and traditions of African Christian life and thought emerging as a distinctive strand of southern and non-western Christianity with the potential of contributing to world Christianity.
  • A distinctive curriculum, giving exposure to the intellectual rigour required for the study of theology as an academic discipline, and conveying the importance of spiritual commitment for theological understanding and formation.
  • Serving a dual purpose as a broad introduction to theology that is relevant to Christian ministry in the African context, and as a recognized bridging programme into the MTh African Christianity programme.

The duration of the programme is one year organized into four blocks of three weeks each.
