New Buildings for the Johannes Zimmermann Library Commences.

A short ceremony was conducted on Wednesday June 2 2010, to cut the sod for the commencement of construction of the new library for the Institute. The ceremony was performed by the Chairman of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rev. Dr. J. O. Y. Mante. Speaking at the ceremony the Chairman of the Institute’s Council Dr Alex Glover Quartey said that the date of the sod cutting had coincided with exactly two years to the date of the last visit of the Founding Rector of the Institute to the site.

The New Library Project is a three-storey structure with a basement which will house the increasing inflow of archival materials, periodicals and other specialized collections of the Johannes Zimmermann Library of the Institute. This project has become necessary as a result of the increasing numbers of the collections as well as the growing numbers studying for the range of postgraduate degrees that the Institute now offers and students from other institutions who come to use the facilities of the Library.

In attendance at the ceremony was the chairman of the Institute Council, Rector and Staff as well as students of the Institute, the Principal and Staff of the Presbyterian University College of Education and the Consultants and Engineers on the Project.
